Job Description:
Title: Laboratory Technician Location: Clinical Pharmacology of
MiamiJob Description:ERG is the largest independent clinical
research site services company focused on special populations and
is the market leader in CNS. With 20 wholly owned clinical sites,
we conduct in-patient and out-patient phase I-IV clinical research
studies. Our mission is to provide the highest quality execution of
clinical trials in all clinical research phases aimed at helping
sponsor companies to get their life saving or life enhancing drugs
to market as quickly and safely as possible. Perform basic and
complex clinical and pharmacokinetic specimen collection and
processing (upon assignment). Incumbents work under supervision of
PK Laboratory Supervisor and/or Clinical Research Coordinator
(assigned to study), performing routine duties and referring
questions and problems to the supervisor. This position will have a
variable work schedule, including flexible hours and
weekends.Responsibilities:Clinical: Performs the collection of
protocol required non-venous clinical specimens (i.e. urine, fecal,
sputum, saliva) Performs a variety of routine blood drawing
procedures to include venipuncture, techniques using standard
equipment to include vacutainer tubes and sleeves, tourniquets,
syringes and butterfly needles Processes clinical or
pharmacokinetic specimens according to protocol specifications of
venous and non-venous clinical specimens (i.e. blood, urine, fecal,
sputum, saliva), as assigned Monitors urine collection
temperatures, as assignedMonitors 24 hour specimen collections
(i.e. urine, feces), as assignedSupply and stock phlebotomy trays
with needed equipmentMaintain sample collection area clean and
stocked with all necessary suppliesNotifies appropriate staff of
abnormal results while collecting specimens, adverse events or
unusual incidentsActs as courier to Pharmacokinetic laboratory for
collected specimensAssures minimal discomfort for study
participants while performing all dutiesMaintains safety and
well-being of study participants during assigned shiftDistributes
meals, snacks, and assists staff with participant activities, as
assignedSkills and Qualifications:Education and
experienceCertification as a Phlebotomy Technician and/or a minimum
of six months experience working as a phlebotomist at a medical
facility; Clinical Research experience preferred but not
requiredBLS and/or ACLS certification preferred but not
required;RequirementsBilingual skills are preferred but not
required Understands regulatory requirements, as well as Good
Clinical Practices (GCP) and International Conference of
Harmonization (ICH) guidelines. Knowledgeable in medical
terminology Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, written,
verbal) Basic computer skills to include Word, Excel, as well as
proprietary applications unique to the clinical research industry
(such as Study Manager)
