HR Generalist (with Immigration Specialization)

Position Overview:

We have a unique opportunity for a talented HR Generalist with specialized experience in US Immigration to join our Human Resources team. This role is based in our corporate office in Miami Lakes, FL, where we are presently working a hybrid schedule (subject to change).

In this dual-focus HR role, you will apply your "breadth" of experience in HR as a Generalist. Your specialization area allows you to utilize your "depth" in US Immigration as a subject matter expert, providing support for our associates' immigration processes.

Your HR Generalist responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the employee HR lifecycle from new hire orientation and onboarding efforts, through the employee exit process
    • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
    • Participating in the development and implementation of HR processes, policies and procedures, and strategic initiatives.
    • Maintaining and providing key metrics
    • All other duties as assigned
      Your Immigration area of specialty responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
      • Providing direct support for all immigration-related processes, such as visa renewals, extensions, amendments, transfers, terminations, permanent residence sponsorship and green card processing, consular processing travel and visa applications
      • Collaborating directly with our employees requiring sponsorship, along with their leaders and HR as needed, to ensure the accurate collection, review, and preparation of all required documents
      • Serving as main point of contact for external immigration legal counsel and/or consultant for the filing and status of all of Momentum's immigration cases
      • Serving as primary point of contact for all immigration related questions, communicating clearly and effectively on processes, status, and timelines
      • Ensuring compliance related to the collection and filing of immigration documentation (tracking employment authorization dates, requesting updated documents, maintaining public access files, etc.)
        • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Human Resources or related field
        • Minimum 5 years of experience as an HR Generalist, ideally in an Information Technology focused organization
        • Minimum 2 years of corporate immigration experience (ideally as part of an HR or legal team), specifically with non-immigrant visas and immigrant visas (H1Bs, PERM Processing and I140s)
        • A positive, customer service-focused mindset with a demonstrated passion for helping people
        • A process-driven, details-oriented approach with the ability to organize/prioritize work and to manage multiple projects to timely completion
        • Ability to exercise good judgment, personal leadership and to maintain strict confidentiality
        • Very strong written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus
        • Hands-on experience working with human capital management (HCM) applications, ideally UltiPro
        • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
        • Initiative-taking work style, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently
        • Continuous learning and professional development in the fields of Human Resources and US Immigration
        • Ability to perform work as scheduled and at assigned location. This position is based in our Miami Lakes corporate office. We currently work a hybrid schedule with assigned days in-office and work from home days; this is subject to change.
          Bonus Points:
          • Prior experience with visa processing for IT professionals is preferred
          • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, GPHR) is preferred
          • First-hand, personal experience with the immigration process is also a plus
