Responsibilities:

* Under the supervision of a physician, provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services to patients in an assigned area/service
* Contributes to physicians effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives
* Makes daily rounds of patients.
* Assesses response to medications, treatments, and interventions.
* Evaluates current status and complaints of patients.
* Consults with and transmits information to the Supervising Physician regarding the health status of the patient.
* Dictates or writes progress notes on patients seen as well as dictates discharge summaries.
* Provides information and education to patient and family regarding diagnostic studies, treatments, medications, and diet.
* Functions within the guidelines of the Physician Assistant Standards.
* Orders laboratory and diagnostics tests at request of the Supervising Physician.
* Orders referrals to consulting physicians at the request of the Supervising Physician.
* Administers and/or orders medications upon request of the Supervising Physician.
* Writes admission orders for patients being admitted to Mount Sinai Medical Center upon the request of the Supervising Physician.

Position Requirements:

* Experience working in Internal Medicine office preferred but will consider new graduates
* ACLS and BLS Certification
* Physician Assistant FL License and Appropriate Certifications
* Graduate of an accredited school of Physician Assisting
* Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
