Description:

Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for high-performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications. With design, sales, and manufacturing locations in over 30 countries, Mini-Circuits' products are used in a range of wired and wireless communications applications. Position Summary:

Responsible for functioning as the technical lead for the design, development and product release of RF through millimeter wave circuits, including high performance filters and other passive structures using industry standard simulation tools such as ADS and HFSS and in accordance with Mini-Circuits phase-gate product development process.

Salary Range: $119,500 - $179,300 per year

Job Functions:

  • Function as technical lead on product development projects, in accordance with Mini-Circuits standard Product Generation Process, including: design, documentation, and product release of active and passive RF components
  • Lead development of application circuits, characterization test circuits and production test circuits for the same
  • Lead test technicians in product characterization and qualification test efforts
  • Support Quality and Reliability of product and technology qualification efforts
  • Support the Sales and Applications team in custom product design as required
  • Support Product Marketing in the development of the associated product and technology roadmaps
  • Interface with the Project Management team to track all technical developments according to established schedule and cost metrics
  • Support engineering organization in ISO Audits and Management reviews and participate in internal and external audits.
  • Maintain the technical relevance in materials and processes, circuital topologies, design methodologies/techniques, simulation software and modeling techniques, device characterization techniques and novel production testing strategies
  • Review, update and generate company procedures and processes to ensure the highest level of design and manufacturing standards are achieved and maintained.
  • Mentor and generate goals for junior department members and ensure flow down is consistent with company goals and resources. The duties, responsibilities and expectations described above is not a comprehensive list and additional tasks may be assigned to the member, within the scope of the position.

    Qualifications:
    • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 8 years of experience OR Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) with 6 years of experience
      • Area of Specialization: Low-temperature co-fired ceramic substrates
      • Established experience in complex, microwave, and millimeter-wave hardware design, including electrical, mechanical, thermal, and test; established experience in designing RF & Microwave layouts into the low millimeter wave bands
      • Familiarity with both thick-film and thin-film processes is a plus
      • Strong background in EM simulation and modeling employing MoM and FEM engines. Prior experience with Ansys HFSS and Keysight's ADS and Momentum is preferred.
      • Must have established proficiency and experience using modern design tools such as OrCAD, AutoCAD, ADS, Momentum, and HFSS or equivalent.
      • Real-word, strong lab analysis and debug experience required to verify simulated performance
      • Knowledge of Matlab is a must, knowledge of Python is preferred
      • Knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks and DraftSight is preferred
      • Must have demonstrated excellent hands-on ability to assemble, tune, test, troubleshoot hardware, and train department members in laboratory methods, techniques, and applications.
      • Must have demonstrated previous experience with surface mount and microelectronic chip-and-wire manufacturing methods and techniques, including soldering, wedge bonding, silver epoxy application, expansion coefficient and thermal conductivity of materials, plating, hard and soft substrate materials, printed circuit board manufacturing methods, and techniques.
      • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the design of common rf circuits such as couplers, dividers, baluns, transformers, mixers and amplifiers.
      • Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, strong in building relationships, team player, dynamic, creative with the ability to work on own initiative.
      • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills in English. Behavioral Competencies:

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Must be able to work with a diverse group of members professionally, politely, and effectively
        • "Out of the box thinker" must be a key driver contributing to the product roadmap and be willing to take innovative product risk while balancing the road map for on-time deliverables
        • Strong relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem-solving, and change management skills
        • Monitor, advise and guide diverse, simultaneous projects of varying complexities
